Essential Work

I designed this broadside and printed it in collaboration with Dina Pollack for the 2020 Colophon Club Summer Art Exchange. The Colophon Club is "[a] social club for bibliophiles. To share, and encourage knowledge and enthusiasm for books and the book arts." Created during the COVID-19 Pandemic, the theme was Essential Work. For us, fighting racism is essential work. The data that inspired the print came from these New York Times articles and associated maps, "Black Lives Matter May be the Largest Movement in U.S. History," and "How Black Lives Matter Reached Every Corner of America." The broadside was type set digitally and letterpress printed on a Vandercook 4 in an edition of 30.
